Learn the secrets of making sourdough bread in this hands-on sourdough bread class! Charity will teach you about sourdough starter. You will learn how to mix up a loaf by hand and will get to practice doing stretches and folds with Charity’s help. You will also learn how to put inclusions into your bread to flavor it. Charity will demonstrate what to do after your loaf finishes bulk fermentation. She will demonstrate how to shape it and teach you how to bake it. There will be samples of different sourdough breads with different flavors. Charity will share ideas on how to bake your bread if you don’t have a Dutch oven at home.
All students will go home with a bowl of dough, a razor blade to score it, a small amount of rice flour, and a small amount of starter. Students will not bake their bread in class but will take it home so it can finish fermentation and be baked at home.
