Hummus: low fat, healthy, delicious, and easy to make. We should all be reaching for hummus to dip our veggies and chips in.
It can be used as a spread, dip, or pita filling. It’s super tasty and filling. It would make a great after school snack for the kids or a light lunch for yourself.
Why buy hummus at the store when it’s a whole lot cheaper and super easy to make at home?
Our recipe calls for cooked garbanzo beans. If you don’t want to take the time to cook the beans, consider pressure canning them in pint jars in advance. Find out how to do that in this post. You would then substitute 2 pint jars of garbanzo beans in place of the 3 cups of beans.
- 3 cups cooked garbanzo beans*
- 3/4 to 1 cup water or chickpea cooking broth
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder*
- 4 T sesame seeds*
- juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1 tsp cumin*
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika*
- salt to taste*
*These ingredients are available in our store.
