What Comes Standard with Every Bosch Universal Plus

Before you spend a dollar on add-ons, here is what you already get with every Bosch Universal Plus

Dough Hook

The signature Bosch bottom-drive dough hook. Designed for bread dough and handles up to 15 lbs. This is the primary reason most bakers buy a Bosch — and it comes in the box.

Best for:

Bread dough, pizza dough, bagels, pretzels, cinnamon rolls

Wire Whips (2)

Two wire whip attachments for lighter mixing tasks. They work together to whip cream, beat eggs, and mix cake batters efficiently in the large 6.5 qt bowl.

Best for:

Whipped cream, meringue, cake batter, frosting, egg whites

Beater Paddles (2)

Two plastic beater paddles for general mixing. Good for cookie dough, mashed potatoes, and medium-density batters that do not need whipping or heavy kneading.

Best for:

Cookie dough, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, quick breads

6.5 Qt Stainless Steel Bowl

A large stainless steel mixing bowl with a locking mechanism that secures to the base. Durable, easy to clean, and large enough for 6+ loaves of bread dough at once.

Best for:

All mixing tasks — this is the main bowl for everything

These four items cover bread baking, cake making, and general mixing. Many Bosch owners use only the included attachments for years and are perfectly happy. The add-ons below expand your capabilities into new areas.

Ranked Guide

Bosch Attachments Ranked: Essential to Nice-to-Have

Our recommendation order based on impact, versatility, and value for bread bakers

#1

Grain Mill

Essential

The grain mill attachment turns whole grain kernels (wheat berries, rye, oats, spelt) into fresh flour directly inside your mixer. Fresh-ground flour has more nutrition, more flavor, and makes noticeably better bread than store-bought flour that may have sat in a warehouse for months.

Why It Matters

Fresh flour contains the wheat germ and its natural oils, which start degrading as soon as grain is milled. Store-bought whole wheat flour has often lost significant nutritional value by the time it reaches your kitchen. Grinding your own means peak nutrition and flavor in every loaf.

Best For

Bakers who want the freshest, most nutritious bread possible. Especially valuable for whole wheat bakers who are serious about quality and health.

Things to Consider

Adds a few minutes to your baking workflow. You will also need to source whole grain berries, which are available at Kitchen Kneads and most natural food stores.

#2

Slicer/Shredder

Highly Recommended

This attachment transforms your Bosch into a food processor for slicing and shredding. It handles vegetables, cheese, potatoes, and more — far faster than doing it by hand and with more consistent results.

Why It Matters

If you cook from scratch regularly, you spend a lot of time slicing and shredding ingredients. This attachment replaces an entire food processor for those tasks, saving counter space and money.

Best For

Home cooks who prepare meals from scratch. Ideal for shredding cheese, slicing vegetables for dehydrating, and prepping large quantities of ingredients.

Things to Consider

Only handles slicing and shredding — it does not chop or dice. For most home cooks, those are the two tasks that take the most time anyway.

#3

Pasta Roller and Cutter

Recommended

Roll and cut fresh pasta directly with your Bosch mixer. The roller thins the dough to your preferred thickness, and the cutter creates fettuccine or spaghetti. Fresh pasta cooks in 2-3 minutes and has a texture that dried pasta cannot replicate.

Why It Matters

The Bosch already makes excellent pasta dough with its powerful motor. Adding the roller and cutter attachment means you can go from flour to finished noodles using a single machine.

Best For

Bakers who also love homemade pasta. Pairs perfectly with the Bosch since it already excels at kneading the firm pasta dough that weaker mixers struggle with.

Things to Consider

Homemade pasta is a separate skill from bread baking. If you have never made pasta before, this is a great entry point — but it is an additional hobby, not a bread-baking necessity.

#4

Blender

Nice to Have

The Bosch blender attachment connects to the mixer base and works as a full-powered blender. It handles smoothies, soups, sauces, and more using the same 800W motor that drives your mixer.

Why It Matters

If you already own a good standalone blender, this is redundant. But if you need a blender and already own a Bosch, the attachment saves counter space and money versus buying a separate appliance.

Best For

Bakers who want to consolidate kitchen appliances. Good for smoothies, pureed soups, and sauces without adding another device to your counter.

Things to Consider

Not as powerful or versatile as a dedicated high-end blender like a Vitamix. For basic blending tasks, it works well. For crushing ice or making nut butters, a standalone blender is better.

#5

Citrus Juicer

Nice to Have

A powered citrus juicer attachment that makes quick work of oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits. The Bosch motor eliminates the arm fatigue of manual juicing.

Why It Matters

If you juice citrus regularly — fresh orange juice every morning, or large batches of lemon juice for preserving — this attachment makes the task effortless.

Best For

Families who drink fresh-squeezed juice regularly, or bakers who use a lot of citrus juice in recipes. Also useful for making large batches of lemonade or marmalade.

Things to Consider

A one-task attachment. If you only occasionally need citrus juice, a simple hand-held reamer or manual juicer works fine for the small quantities most recipes require.

#6

Meat Grinder

Nice to Have

Grind your own meat for burgers, sausage, meatloaf, and more. The powerful Bosch motor pushes meat through with ease, and you control exactly what goes into your ground meat.

Why It Matters

Grinding your own meat lets you choose the cuts and fat ratio. You know exactly what is in your ground beef — no fillers, no mystery trimmings. It also lets you make custom sausage blends.

Best For

Families who want full control over their ground meat. Hunters who process their own game. Anyone making homemade sausage or specialty meat blends.

Things to Consider

Most bread bakers will not use this regularly. It crosses into a different hobby (charcuterie/meat processing). If you are specifically interested in grinding meat, it is a solid attachment.

Essential vs Nice-to-Have at a Glance

A quick summary to help you prioritize

Essential / Highly Recommended

These will meaningfully change your baking

  • Grain Mill

Fresh flour transforms bread quality, nutrition, and flavor. The single most impactful add-on for bread bakers.

  • Slicer/Shredder

Replaces a food processor for the two most common prep tasks. Saves time every day you cook.

  • Pasta Roller and Cutter

Perfect companion to the Bosch since it already makes excellent pasta dough. From flour to noodles in one machine.

Nice to Have

Useful but not essential for most bakers

  • Blender

Saves counter space if you do not own a blender. Not a replacement for a high-performance blender.

  • Citrus Juicer

Great for regular juicers or large-batch preserving. Overkill if you occasionally need a lemon squeezed.

  • Meat Grinder

For home meat processing and sausage making. A separate hobby from bread baking but a quality attachment.

How It Works

How Bosch Attachments Connect

The Bosch Universal Plus uses two attachment points for maximum versatility

Top Drive Port

Located on the top of the mixer body. This port powers attachments that sit above or beside the main bowl — like the slicer/shredder, grain mill, and blender.

Used by: Grain mill, slicer/shredder, blender, citrus juicer

Bottom Drive (Bowl Center)

The bottom-drive spindle in the center of the bowl base. This is the same connection that drives the dough hook and wire whips. It transfers the full 800W motor power to bowl-based attachments.

Used by: Dough hook, wire whips, beater paddles, meat grinder (via adapter)

Swapping attachments takes seconds — no tools required. Remove one, click in another, and you are ready to go. This quick-change system is one of the reasons the Bosch ecosystem is so practical.
